ooo how I love this poem, some pieces literally give me goose bumps - and there is no doubt that this is one of them. Now when it comes to my inspirations, a lot of the artist that graced the Def Jam Poetry stage do fall into that category, but I will not go into that now, and discuss my relationship with Def Jam Poetry for another post.

I'm not going to pretend to be all deep and knowing, I had to listen to this a couple of times before I could take away what I personally felt this piece was saying, but I still couldn't help but me amazed the moment I heard it. Her voice is for those who suffer a daily struggle, and offers a hope that demands a call for change. We Made It exposes and makes you reflect on history (primary Afro-American history), mentioning slavery, Hurricane Katrina, mass incarnation to Black Nationalism. I feel like her poetry unveil's the issue of racism word-by-word with a mission to make its roots exposed.

She simply inspires me.
